Natalie P. Chappel has significant experience in both commercial and construction litigation, representing land owners, design professionals, business owners, contractors, subcontractors and landlords in various disputes, including matters addressing construction defects, professional negligence claims, payment disputes, delay damages and claims with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Her experience in construction spans pre-suit matters, litigation, loss prevention, claims analysis and risk management over a variety of large-scale development projects, including high-rise condominium towers, commercial office space, hospitality and retail centers and mixed-use communities across the state. Chappel has also handled claims related to civil works projects involving storm water, wastewater and utility systems as well as infrastructure and transportation projects.
In handling such complex construction claims, Chappel has developed a specialty in analyzing and managing insurance coverage disputes which arise concerning general, excess and professional liability insurance policies, including employment practices liability, directors and officers, professional malpractice and errors/omissions policies.
Chappel has been actively involved in every phase of litigation in both state and federal actions, including the preparation for and conduct of several jury and non-jury trials. She has also obtained positive outcomes from numerous evidentiary hearings and negotiated dozens of successful settlements on behalf of her clients.
Chappel is also well-versed in first-party and third-party property disputes, as well as premises liability, breach of contract, foreclosure, lien and products and professional liability matters and has successfully litigated cases involving complex probate, trust and tax implications as well as employment disputes.
While in law school, Chappel was an active member of Florida Blue Key, the University of Florida Athletic Association and College Leadership Florida.
Chappel is an active member of various professional and community organizations and currently serves as a Guardian Ad Litem in conjunction with the Orange County Bar Association.
