Broad And Cassel’s Roy Kobert Receives National Certification In Business Bankruptcy Law
ORLANDO, April 1, 2002- Broad and Cassel is pleased to announce that Roy S. Kobert, Partner in the Orlando office, recently completed the requirements and acquired his national certification in business bankruptcy law from the American Board of Certification.
In order to become certified, Mr. Kobert satisfied the following requirements:
- Full time practice of law for at least five years;
- Good standing with the bars of all states in which a license to practice law is held;
- Devoted at least 30 percent of practice time and at least 400 hours to bankruptcy-related matters in the past three years;
- Documented involvement in business bankruptcy by providing information on cases;
- Showed commitment to continuing his legal education by earning at least 60 hours of bankruptcy education in the last three years;
- Passed an extensive, day-long written examination covering business bankruptcy issues.
Mr. Kobert joined the Ft. Lauderdale office of Broad and Cassel in 1992 and was invited to transfer to the Orlando office in 1995. Mr. Kobert is the chairperson of the Firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group and has represented secured creditors, commercial debtors and creditor committees throughout the country. Some of Mr. Kobert’s most notable clients are Bank of America, Hewitt Olson Asset Recovery, Capital City Bank, Maytag Corporation and Maytag Appliance Sales Company, South Trust Bank and Bank of Central Florida.
The American Board of Certification (ABC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the public and improving the quality of the bankruptcy and creditors’ rights bar. The ABC is co-sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Commercial Law League of America.
