Partner, Robert Alfert, Jr. Voted in as a Board Member of the Downtown YMCA in Orlando

April 11, 2002, ORLANDO, FL --- Robert Alfert, Jr., a Partner in the Orlando office of Broad and Cassel, has been voted in as a Board Member for the Downtown Orlando YMCA, which is the largest YMCA in the Central Florida Chapter. Mr. Alfert's term began on the board effective March 14, 2002. The YMCA's Board oversees a wide variety of responsibilities, including operations and fundraising.

Mr. Alfert handles a broad variety of complex litigation matters in state and federal courts, including subject matters that utilize his undergraduate training and work experience in architecture. These matters include eminent domain, construction, intellectual property, product defect claims and complex commercial matters. He has successfully prosecuted many construction claims on behalf of national developers, most recently negotiating pre-suit a $3.15 million settlement in a defective siding case. Mr. Alfert also has experience in other construction defect cases, including, but not limited to, roof defect and "sick building" syndrome cases. Mr. Alfert has also successfully handled many state and federal appeals, and maintains an undefeated track record on appeal.

Mr. Alfert is a member of the Firm's Commercial Litigation, Appellate and Eminent Domain Practice Groups. He received his B.A., in Architecture, from the University of Florida in 1988 and his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1992. He joined the Firm in 1992. He is also a member of the Florida Bar.

Mr. Alfert is involved in various community and professional organizations and actively publishes articles on a wide range of legal subjects.
