Douglas Rillstone Joins Land Use and Environmental Law Group
ORLANDO, FL; February 18, 2003: Broad and Cassel is pleased to announce Douglas Rillstone has joined Broad and Cassel as a Partner. Mr. Rillstone will practice in the Firm's Land Use and Environmental Law Practice Group.
Mr. Rillstone has been practicing law since 1985 and specializes in natural resource regulation at the federal and state levels. He has significant experience in all areas of environmental law, including, Wildlife/Plant Species and Habitat Regulation; Environmental Law; Wetlands; Hazardous Waste Regulation; Water and Water Use; Groundwater Contamination; Surface Water Management; Marina Development; Purchase and Sale of Contaminated Properties; Civil and Criminal Environmental Enforcement Actions; Administrative Rulemaking and Litigation; and Coastal Construction and Sovereign Lands Approvals. He will be available to provide additional high level Environmental and Land Use expertise to our clients throughout the entire state.
It is the goal of the Firm and Mr. Rillstone to expand his practice throughout the state of Florida. Although Mr. Rillstone will maintain offices in Tallahassee and Orlando, he will be available to provide high level environmental and land use expertise to the Firm's clients throughout the entire State.
Mr. Rillstone received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 1979. He received his Masters Degree from Florida Institute of Technology in 1983 and his J.D, with honors from Hamline University in 1985. He is involved in numerous professional and community organizations, including:
- Executive Council for The Florida Bar Section on Environmental and Land Use Law.
- Florida Chamber Infrastructure and Environmental Legislative Policy Committee
- Florida Chamber Environmental and Growth Management Policy Committee.
- Florida Chamber of Commerce Environmental Steering Committee.
- Florida Chamber of Commerce Natural Resources and Growth Management Committee, and Chair of the subcommittee on endangered/threatened species and upland habitat regulation.
- American Bar Association Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Committee on Solid and Hazardous Waste.
- American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Committees on Wetland and Endangered Species and Solid Waste RCRA and Underground Storage Tanks.
- The Florida Bar Administrative and Governmental Law Section
Mr. Rillstone is a frequent speaker on issues relating to wetlands and endangered and threatened species at conferences sponsored by the Florida Chamber of Commerce, American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, and other public and private organizations. He has also published numerous articles throughout his career.
