Two Orlando Attorneys Named "40 Under 40," Only Law Firm with Multiple Winners

ORLANDO, Fla.; June 20, 2008 — The statewide law firm Broad and Cassel is pleased to announce that Orlando Associates Corina Castillo-Johnson and Peter Schoemann have been recognized as being among the brightest and most promising young businesspeople in Orlando as recognized in the Orlando Business Journal’s “40 Under 40.” Chosen from more than 200 nominations, this year’s Class of 40 represents leaders from a variety of industries, from law and real estate to tourism and the arts. In addition to being the only law firm with more than one “40 Under 40” winner, Broad and Cassel was among only two companies with multiple winners.

A member of the Firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, Corina Castillo-Johnson counsels some of the Firm’s largest and most prominent clients on the development, acquisition and disposition of real estate.

“Her involvement in the community and with her family also signifies what a well rounded and true professional she is,” says Johnson’s supervisor, well-known Attorney Wayne Rich.

She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Central Florida Hispanic Bar Association and the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Mennello Museum. Her favorite weekend activity is to spend time with her twin 3-year-old daughters and her husband of four years, Mathew Johnson, at the Orlando Library or the Orlando Science Center.

A member of the Firm's Corporate and Securities and Public Finance and Capital Projects Practice Groups, Peter Schoemann counsels clients in many areas of law, including tax, corporate, government and public finance matters.

Schoemann’s supervisor, Partner Douglas Starcher, commented, “I admire not only Peter’s aptitude for the practice of law, but also his devotion to the community and his family. Peter has a bright future — both in the practice of law and as a leader in this community.”

Schoemann is the founder and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce for Persons with Disabilities, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is the Vice-Chair of the Economic Development Committee and Chair of the Small Business Workshop Committee. In addition, he serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of the Advocacy Center for Persons with Disabilities, Inc., as well as on the Board of the Center for Independent Living in Central Florida, Inc. He also participates in the Seminole Advisory Board Council, an economic development program that operates within Seminole Community College's Small Business Services Department.

Orlando Business Journal “40 Under 40” honorees were chosen in accordance with their business, community involvement and personal accomplishments.

Broad and Cassel established its Orlando office in 1975, and it has become the largest office in the firm. The firm’s Orlando attorneys focus their practices primarily in the following areas of law: Affordable Housing and Tax Credit, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, Commercial Litigation, Corporate and Securities, Eminent Domain, Estate Planning, Government Relations, Intellectual Property, Labor and Employment Law, Land Use and Environmental Law, Real Estate and Public Finance and Capital Projects.
