Ft. Lauderdale Attorney, Joanne Charles Appointed to T.J. Reddick Bar Association Board of Directors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.; July 23 , 2008 — Broad and Cassel is pleased to announce that Fort Lauderdale attorney Joanne Charles has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association, an organization dedicated to promoting professional excellence among Black lawyers and increasing the enrollment of minority students in college as well as law school.

A member of the Firm’s Health Law Practice Group, Charles is a former journalist, editor and health writer with experience in healthcare marketing, patient publications and public information programs concerning hospital compliance with Federal and state laws. She graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and earned a Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepherd Broad Law Center. A 2004 Goodwin Fellow, Charles was also Editor in Chief of the Nova Law Review and currently is a member of The Florida Bar Association.

Founded in 1982, the T.J. Reddick Bar Association was formed to provide African Americans with equal access into law firms as attorneys or partners, and it was named after T.J. Reddick, Broward County’s first Black attorney to open his own practice and serve as a Circuit Court Judge in Florida.
